color, abstract shapes, the female form, a blend of both latin and american influences. welcome to my number one art obsession: america martin. the second $15,000 magically falls into my lap (*looks up, sighs*) one of her pieces is my number one wish.
america martin is an internationally acclaimed colombian-american painter and sculptor. and if she is not yet on your radar, she must be.
i am so drawn to the texture of her work. she clearly pulls from classic artists but also feels incredibly of the moment. and feels authentic in a very special way. i often find that art that is a little abstract is a better representation of the truth than exact representations, and america is a great example of that for me.
from her agency: "Martin’s art and personality encapsulates a sense of enthusiasm and hope. While born in the USA, the roots of America’s Colombian heritage deeply penetrate her work. People are Martin’s dominant subject. They are large in size, vivacious and accessible, and seem to burst out of the limits of each canvas or sculpture. Within this pulsating interplay of color, texture, line, and shapes, there is always America’s signature expression that identifies each work as an America Martin."
